Sahan and Harit are cousins and grew up together in the same city in South Asia. Due to national infighting, their city was invaded by opposing forces.
Sadly, their parents were killed, and Sahan and Harit were loaded onto boats and taken to plantation fields. Every day, they had to cut down bananas and carry heavy bags of nuts. It was painful work, often causing injuries to their arms and legs. If they complained, they were not given food or water.
But these two boys had a strong bond and stuck together.
After Sahan and Harit were rescued last fall, LFTI intentionally kept them in the same transition home. In the last 6 months, they have continued to heal and grow together. They went to counseling, participated in art therapy, and attended school for the first time.
Best of all, Sahan and Harit were just adopted by two families who live on the same street! The boys are enrolled at the same academy and walk to class together in the mornings, and their families attend church together.
Thanks to the prayers and generosity of LFTI supporters, children like Sahan and Harit have a safe place to recover from trauma and can thrive in new adoptive families.
