Currently, 1,820 rescued boys and girls are in LFTI transition homes in South Asia. They are recovering, making progress with counselors, and spending time with their adoptive parents. This ministry is saving lives. To show you how, here is a story of one boy rescued this year:

Avi was rescued this summer. Sadly, he doesn’t know his birth name. Everyone just called him “Hey”, so he named himself Avi after the sun. He lived off scraps and donation offerings left outside temples. Adults pointed him out to their children and said, “That is what you’ll become if you don’t behave.” Because of these comments, Avi thought it was his fault he didn’t have parents.

When he came to LFTI, he didn’t talk much. But in the last few months, his adoptive parents and counselors have worked together to show him he is safe and to help instill confidence. Now, Avi talks all the time and even decided, on his own, to call his new parents “Amma” and “Appa”. Avi will go home with them in February.
