It’s never too early or late to ask yourself: What kind of legacy do I want to leave behind?

Including a planned gift to LFTI’s Family Legacy Fellowship is a powerful response, and allows you to give bright futures to rescued children beyond your lifetime.

LFTI Family Legacy FAQs

What is a planned gift? This is the transfer of assets through legal or written means to a nonprofit as part of your estate plan. A planned gift could also result in reduced taxes and other benefits!

What planned gifts can I donate

  • Parts of wills or trusts: this can be a specific dollar amount, piece of property, or percentage of an estate.
  • Beneficiary designation: you can designate LFTI as a beneficiary of all or a specified percentage of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan. (You can also name us as a contingency beneficiary if someone named in your will is no longer living.)
  • Non-cash assets: examples include life insurance policies, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or real estate. (If a gift of stock has appreciated in value, you as the holder can avoid paying the capital gains tax by giving it as a donation.)

How do I set this up? The process can usually be done with just a few sentences! We recommend sharing this language with your estate planning attorney or financial planner:

“I give to Life for the Innocent, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, EIN# 47-4070550, $ [donation amount] or [percentage].”

Other important information your attorney/financial planner may need:

  • Legal Name: Life for the Innocent
  • Life for the Innocent is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation
  • Tax ID/EIN: 47-4070550
  • Address: 2809 E. Harmony Rd. #110 Fort Collins, CO 80528

What else do I need to do? Please let us know by emailing legacy@lifefotheinnocent.org! Some planned gift options don’t include donor information, so we may not know who it is from. We would love to say thanks, celebrate with you, and plan appropriately for the use of your generosity.

Any other questions? Please contact us at legacy@lifefortheinnocent.org. We would be happy to talk with you at any point during your prayerful deliberation of these strategic legacy gifts.
